St. Valentine’s Day often brings many romantic expectations, but at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West, expectations of another kind will be formed on February 14 of this year. The Executive Director of USCCB’s Secretariat for Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations, Fr. Shawn McKnight, S.T.D., will lead a day conference on the Identity of the Deacon for those serving in this ministry. The title? “Betwixt and Between: The Deacon as Symbol of Communitas and Social Intermediary among the People of God.”
Fr. McKnight has long had “a special enthusiasm for the ministry of deacons,” he continues to serve on the faculty of the St. Meinrad Permanent Deacon Formation Program, and has been published in the Deacon Digest and Deacon Reader, among other notable accolades.
He is currently scheduled to give three talks at the Bartlett Pastoral Center on the Athenaeum campus on Saturday, February 14: 9:00-9:45 am; 10:00-10:45 am, and from 1:00-1:45 pm. The St. James Project will be there to live stream the talks directly to this site.
Those deacons interested in attending should contact Deacon Dave Profitt, Director of the Diaconate Program for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati at firstname.lastname@example.org.
